In late summer 2009, our country continued to face economic turmoil, crisis in the banking community, and general chaos as we struggled to understand the consequences of government bailouts, stimulus packages, healthcare reform and the scope of government. Throughout all of this, the focus of the mainstream media as it relates to the financial world was primarily on bank failures, the mortgage crisis and lack of consumer credit.
What was missing, we felt, was some discussion on the availability of business credit. After all, small and medium-sized businesses employ the majority of Americans, and we felt that it is important to discuss how banks and non-bank lenders are weathering the storm and continuing to help businesses all across America.
